Fractional vs full-time CIO

Virtual CIO

Most organisations don't need a full-time CIO every day of the year, although we can provide that if necessary.

Depending on your needs, we often recommend a fractional or virtual CIO with a set level of service and hours per month – scalable as you need it.

Flexible and Scalable

Our Fractional CIO service can scale up or down rapidly, for example when implementing projects or activities, or moving back to "business as usual".

You only pay for what you need. You get large-business CIO experience and capability for a fraction of the cost.

The Fractional CIO service also provides certainty. As well as your own CIO, you get the benefit of a whole experienced team looking after your business.

We work in an Agile way as this is the model that is most likely to produce successful outcomes that meet your needs. 

Agile Aproach

We see the following as key to successful Agile projects:

Engagement with you and your people: this is something we’re doing together, not something we’re doing “to” your people.

An outcomes focus: we care about getting outcomes that are meaningful to you and your company. As we progress, these outcomes might change. 

Collaboration over contract: while we do have an agreement of course, our focus is on genuine partnership and collaborating to get good outcomes. If either of us feel we have to refer back to the contract wording, we’ve failed. 

Responding to change: while we follow a plan, it’s highly likely that your circumstances and priorities will change – even just in small ways. We will actively solicit and meet your changing priorities and work to ensure a well-managed but flexible process. 

Your investment

The cost is essentially a product of the work vs timeframe – we often work on a fixed-cost monthly subscription basis and our Agile approach provides maximum flexibility as your needs change over time.

We also don’t believe in locking clients into lengthy contracts. We’ll discuss the cost and schedule of projects, but you can cancel the engagement at any stage if you don’t feel you’re receiving value.
